I've finished yet another quilt! It's truly amazing. I'm sure those who know me are now suffering from shock and awe. I apologize, but I'm on a roll.
I made the top to this quilt for my husband a few years ago. RicDaddy loved it; I hated it. The green looked garish to me (still does), and the whole thing seemed so...chaotic (still does). So, I folded it up and stashed it away. I ran across it a few days before his 40th birthday (April 10th). I thought, "Well, I want to get all these projects done. What better motivation than RicDaddy's 40th birthday?" And thus a quilt was finished.
I gave it to him on the night of his surprise birthday party (along with his Titleist golf bag and Pro V-1 balls...yes, RicDaddy likes golf. He's good at it too!) He didn't see it coming. I loved the look on his face. He's so darned cute!!
I used a polyester batting, something I've never done before. I'm a cotton snob. But he has said that he'd like a 'fluffy' quilt. Hmmm, in my book those are called comforters. Oh well, I'll try anything once. And since I didn't have a true love for this quilt, I considered it an "acceptable loss" if it didn't turn out so hot.
Thankfully, I'm on to other projects.

I think it is beautiful. I like a fluffier quilt sometimes too, and I have been seeing that shade of green everywhere this spring.

I'm a cotton snob too. I will occasionally use a wool blend batting, but that's as far as it goes! The quilt looks great! I wish we could sit down together for a quilt-a-thon, it would be so much fun ;-)

Kathleen,
I'd pay big bucks to have us quilt together!!! Quilting alone can be sort of ....dull at times.
