I can't help it. I've got to gush about a great curriculum. It's TRUTH QUEST HISTORY.
We have always employed a classical style to our curriculum. Well, actually, I think eclectic is a better description. Truth Quest has been a perfect fit.
Each year I spend weeks planning our next year's studies for history. Using every homeschool catalog published, I compile amazing book lists with historical fiction and resource books. I have always loved doing this.
However...once I got my hands on TQ I realized that I didn't have to do all that planning. (But, because I'm a little obsessive,I still do.) Michelle Miller has done a wonderful job of organizing, chronologically, every minute detail of each time period. This appeals to me because I like to cover every minute detail.
The book list is thorough. The resource books, or spine books, are excellent. But above all, her commentary is solid and scripturally sound. I greatly appreciate the biblical world view she so eloquently puts forth.
I used the Egypt/Greece guide last year. Currently we are using the Rome and the Early American History guides.
My oldest, in the ninth grade, is working independently through history this year. But with the TQ guides, and the Think Writes (writing assignments to get them thinking), I can stay on top of what he's studying. This is our third and final time through the history cycle with my oldest. It has been a blessing to use a study tool that reinforces the method and world view our family adheres to. When we have discussions, I see a depth of understanding that I'm sure he wouldn't have without Truth Quest.
I highly recommend this curriculum.
